Kits Coty
Bluebell Hill - 05/08/06
~Please be aware that this was what we call a "Mini Invest" which is basically a simple exploration of the area at hand to decide if a bigger investigation is called for in the future~
Team present are: Jo, Kev, Sarah, Mick, Dante, Darren.
Equipment used: Olympus Camedia digital camera, Laser thermometer, EMF meter, and a Minolta Dynax 35 mm slr.
Our first port of call was the White Horse Stone which is the remains of a chambered tomb. This is a large stone resembling a "horse", with other scattered stones tomb remnants nearby.
This large standing stone is the on the Pilgrim's Way to the east of the A229.
10pm - The team arrive at the White Horse Stone. After a few moments of setting up the cameras, Kev leads a protection for the group by calling upon each persons spirit guides to look after us during our investigation.
The group feels a gust of energy building up which feels like a breeze encircling them, almost like a mini whirlwind. This is not just a breeze blowing as the air is very still. Also a chill is felt but the ambient temperature has not changed.
Temp - 2 deg on White Horse stone, 18 deg ambient. No EMF fluctuations.
The noise from the main road and trains is noted, plus local wildlife.
Mick and Kev call out for spirit to reveal themselves by either touching one of us, or letting themselves be caught in our pictures and it is noted that the team feel the area has a very oppressive atmosphere.
Kev feels that there was more than one stone here at some point in time and Mick points to the remains of a smaller stone several feet away.
Kev picks up on a ritual connected to the main stone to do with the sun. A feeling of sadness is felt by all team and Jo senses a male figure of some authority.
At this point heavy footsteps are heard coming towards the team through the copse in front of them. These are definitely not animal noises as they were much too heavy, as if someone was crashing through the bushes towards us. Torches are shone on the area and nothing is seen but footsteps get louder.
The footsteps sound loud and clear, branches snapping and undergrowth being kicked away. A very exciting but nervy ten minutes or so ensue for all of the team but sadly nothing was recorded on camera. Jo sees a foot pass close by and the earth lowering as it passes.
Although the footsteps can be heard on the mini disc recording because of the background noise it can’t be heard clearly enough.
A heavy breathing can be heard on the mini disc but yet again because of the background noise no proof is attained.
Mick sees a dark figure in the copse area, so do Jo and Sarah, closly followed by the rest of the team. Then 3 to 4 figures in what can only be described as dark robes are clearly seen by all the team. They come closer when asked but then back away again. This is not your regular "shadow people" in our opinion as we all witnessed the figures very clearly, hands and feet clearly seen the whole time. However nothing captured on camera. So was this spirit or our imaginations?.
For 5 people to witness the same thing leads us to believe it may well have been spirit showing themselves to us.
Jo comments that her hackles are up in a nice way, meaning that she can sense spirit are as excited as we are for witnessing this activity and that we actually saw them. Sarah sees wisps of mist pass by which seem to move from side to side and to and fro.
This is one of the most moving experiences we have had as a group to date.
The team feel it is time to leave. Almost like the spirit entities wish us to leave now we have seen them.
11pm - The team decide to leave the stone and go to the next part of the investigation, Kits Coty.
A well-known site in the south-east of England, Kit's Coty House is a neolithic chambered tomb. Kit's Coty House stands in a field to the west (you can't see it from the road) off the A 229 from Maidstone to Rochester just a few miles north of Aylesford. This site was already famous in the seventeeth century. The diarist Samuel Pepys described it as:
"Three great stones standing upright and a great round one lying on them, of great bigness, although not so big as those on Salisbury Plain. But certainly it is a thing of great antiquity, and I am mightily glad to see it."
Some call it Kit's Coty, because 'coty' means the same as 'house'. The story explaining the name tells us that Kit is Catigern, who, together with his brother Vortimer fought Hengist and his brother Horsa here around 455, which is recorded both in the Historia Brittonum as well as in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle.
Both Horsa and he were killed. We don't know who won, but Catigern was supposedly buried here.
A general exploration of the area is carried out by the team and several photos are taken.
The atmosphere is very different here, by Kits Coty itself the team are quite happy and at ease, however, the team discovered that once you walk about 20 foot away from the stone the atmosphere changes very rapidly.
Almost all of the team pick up on a battle scene, and for Jo it was quite a vivid experience!.
This is what she said about her experience afterwards.
"I felt all of a sudden as if I was completely helpless, as if there was no point in moving, and nothing I could do to defend myself, and a terrible sadness descended on me.
I tried to walk away and asked my spirit guides to help me fight this horrible feeling off, but my legs wouldn't move, and I found I couldn't speak very well.
During this time I was totally aware of what was going on, It's like I was in the sidelines as a spectator, watching and knowing I couldn't move or help myself.
I think this was my guides keeping me to one side so that I could experience this event but stay safe at the same time.
I remember my hand burning, and a sharp pain going through it, and on examination by the team there was a red mark across it, how it got there I don't know.
I could see a medieval village scene all around me, fires burning, animals running around loose, and I could smell it too, and women and children just sitting there waiting to be slaughtered as they knew that there was no point in running only to be caught later, it was horrific.
I was aware of Dante doing some reiki healing on me to help me recover, and thankfully it worked!.
After a few minutes of healing I was able to move my legs again, the terrible sadness was lifting and the team helped me to move away from the scene".
After Jo's experience the team decided to call it a night as it was almost 1am, so they headed back to their cars and bid their goodnights.
Portals To Beyond will definitely be going back to Kits Coty and the White Horse Stone as both these sites warrant a much deeper investigation.
The team would like to thank all who attended.
