The team arrived at The Angel Inn at around 9.30pm as 2 members of our team, Jenny and Adam, had not been on a paranormal investigation before and so we wanted some time to chat and introduce them to the rest of the team members.

As we sat chatting, almost all of our team noticed that there was a good deal of spirit energy located around the area near the ladies toilets.

This seemed to have quite a physical effect on the team as many of them reported feeling very sickly and dizzy.

Even those of the team who don’t consider themselves psychic, detected this energy too, so it was a promising start to the evening.

Ash felt that there were 3 spirits present already in the main bar area.

These were a male who seems agitated and quite a bolshy character and Ash feels he is hiding something, a guilty secret almost.

The other spirits were females, one of whom has a great sadness about her and the other is seen to be rushing past in a hurry as if she was trying to escape the bolshy male.

Jenny senses a female crying and sobbing in the far corner of the restaurant.

Jo then proceeds to set up the trigger objects in the stable area for our experiment.

For this, she uses 2 crystals with square flat bases so they could be drawn around.

Kevin also set up a trigger object experiment using 3 old coins and he left these in the far end of the main eating area at the front of the Inn.

The purpose of this is to see whether or not spirit will move the objects to show us they have been around. This has proven quite successful in the past, as spirit will either move the objects to show us they’ve been present, but more often than not it’s just plain old curiousity that gets them!

Temperature readings around the main bar vary between 22ºC-24ºC and 19.5ºC-22ºC around the fireplace.

At 11.35pm Kevin led the protection for the group and it’s guests.

This is done to ensure that we are all connected with our spirit guides who will help to look after us during the night’s investigations. This is an extremely important part of the evening for us, as the welfare and safety of those present on the investigation is paramount to us at all times.

(Even if you aren’t aware you have spirit guides, they know you!)

At 11.40pm Jenny picked up on a little boy aged between 7-8 years old and feels he was very poor, like a peasant.

At this point Cath’s camera battery drained from 180 minutes to 123 minutes of time left in just under 1 minute flat.

At 11.45 Jo finds her camera battery is draining at a fast rate too.

Both cameras were fully charged before coming to The Angel.

11.50pm

The team sit for a quiet vigil in the main bar area to see what energies can be picked up. Jenny picks up on the crying female and feels her emotions quite intensely.

She feels this female doesn’t want us here and sees her as a youngish lady in her 20’s.

As Jo calls out to spirit to ask that they make themselves known to us, she picks up on a spirit male, aged around 53, long hair, open necked white shirt, dark trousers, wearing riding boots. He has a beard and weathered features with very rough hands, as if he is a labourer of some description.

Cath starts to get stomach pains and feels this female energy is crying because of a loss, she feels this is through a miscarriage.

Jo feels like someone has their hand on the back of her head and it is slowly being pushed forward.

At this point Jenny and Adam see a white shape go past the back of the bar and she asks if any other member of staff is there, but Lee assures us that all members of staff are accounted for.

At the same time this white shape was seen, Barbra and Jo both heard a banging noise in the same area.

Kevin clairvoyantly (meaning “Clear Seeing”) picks up on a hunting scene and sees white horses galloping. The riders are dressed in 18th century clothing.

Michele feels a slight head pain and several of the team have noticed that they too can feel this.

12.00am

Ouija Board experiment is set up.

The first people on the board are Lee, Simon, Nicki and Ash.

Jo calls out to spirit asking them to come close and to use our energies to move the glass.

The glass moves extremely slowly and eventually moves towards the letters J and I and then it moves through the letters to the edge and off the table.

Ash sees an orb (light anomaly) move across the table and Cathy continues to suffer with stomach pains and head pains.

We decide to try this again but with an all female team, so at this point the people on the board are taken off and replaced with Michele, Barbra, Georgina and Louis.

This is done to see if the all female energies produce any different results.

The glass moves slowly at first and then begins to spin around the table picking up speed on the way. Despite the obvious strength of the spirit energy using the glass little else happens, despite Jo continuously asking for the spirit to make themselves known, by using the letters to spell their name or initials out.

Jo then asks the females sat at the table to remove their hands from the glass so she can end that session, as the spirit present did not seem to want to make contact.

This time we try an all male energy so we have Adam, Ash, Kevin, Barry and John on the board. The glass moves slowly then picks up speed whilst circling the alphabet.

Kevin calls out to spirit encouraging them to move closer and communicate and at this point the glass moves to the letters F and W and then to “Goodbye”.

Kevin suddenly feels very cold and like he’s had a small electric shock (this effect can be felt if spirit touch you) and he senses that the bolshy male energy is very close by, but just as quickly the energy disperses and is gone.

12.45am

The temperatures continue to maintain a steady 21.5ºC in the bar and eating areas.

The trigger objects are checked on, the crystals have not moved at all, but the coins have moved by a few millimetres.

The team stops for a short break and a welcome coffee very kindly provided by Lee.

01.05am

The team move to the old stables/eating area for a quiet vigil. Ash calls out for spirit to communicate with us. Jenny feels a heavy aching sensation in her arms and senses a male spirit energy.

Jenny hears a female spirit voice say, “Please stay” and she feels that this female energy is drawn to Louis. Jenny also feels that this person was bound in some way.

People in the team continue to feel nauseus and suffer from minor headaches.

Kevin feels an ache and stiffness in his left hand but when he asks for the spirit energy to take this condition off, it eases considerably.

Ash feels a great deal of sadness in this area and both Jenny and Ash feel that the female energy present, was raped by the bolshy male energy that was picked up on earlier and this would have taken place in the second to last stall.

01.25am

The team move out to the terrace. There was a very unusual energy movement out on the terrace; both Ash and Jo feel a male energy circulating around them, as if he is trying to avoid detection.

They both feel as if there is much spiritual energy in the woodland area behind the garden.

Both of the above pictures were taken immediately after one another, but notice the small white orb light to the right of the zodiac signs located along the edge of the facia.

01.30am

On the way to the upstairs area, Adam suddenly smells an overpowering smell of baby sick near the bar area, which as you’ll know has a very distinctive smell. This lasts about 15 seconds and is then gone.

The team move to the upstairs area and hold a quiet vigil on the stairs.

Jo feels that there are conflicting energies present. One is very protective in an almost maternal way and she is trying to keep out negative energies.

Her protective nature is aimed directly at Lee; she feels very passionate about keeping him safe. Jo feels as if there are seperate conditions here as she feels short of breath, but she feels this is not how this protective lady passed away.

Kev and Ash sit at the top of the stairs and see if they can sense anything else.

Both pick up on a Grandmother and feel her name was either Mary or Maud.

They also smell tobacco smoke.

This energy comes extremely close to Kevin and he starts to go in to a trance like state (this can happen – as long as a medium allows it – when spirit energy comes so close, it becomes a part of you) but to the bystander it would look as if Kevin is drifting off to sleep.

He sees a female face in his mind and feels his cheeks have got larger, but with one cheek drooping down as if this spirit lady had suffered a stroke.

As Kevin’s head starts to droop forwards, Jo and Cathy bring Kevin back from trance.

02.00am

The team head off back downstairs and in to the bar to close the investigation with protection led by Kevin.

Conclusion

On the night of our investigation many things were picked up on, such as the presence of the little boy, the spirit that was bound in the stable area and the feelings of sadness picked up in there. The strange energies and they way our team were affected by these and the protective female energy at the top of the stairs and the orb light seen moving behind the bar.

Having spoken to Lee 2 weeks after the investigation had taken place, he confirmed the following points.

The area near the ladies toilets is where a member of The Angel Inn staff has seen a female spirit with long dark curly hair, she was simply standing there and the member of staff thought they had locked a customer in as it was locking up time.

A little boy has been seen sitting on the cellar steps and he is very mischievous.

In the eating area located to the side of the bar where members of our team picked up the female energy, Lee very often wakes each morning to find candles relit despite him making sure they are blown out at the end of each night.

Glasses have fallen off shelves behind the bar, as well as the kitchen and there is no explanation for this.

On 4 to 5 occasions the sensor alarms have gone off at night with only one of those occasions having a valid explanation.

In the stable block eating area, somebody tried to hang themselves.

2 other deaths have occurred at The Angel Inn, one man dropped dead behind the bar and a lady died in the garden area.

After our investigations had concluded, Lee did a spot of research of his own to see if he could find out who the protective female was at the top of the stairs. He discovered that this was his Great-Granmother who has the middle name of Maud and she died as a result of a stroke, although she had suffered a heart attack first.

This was a fantastic location for a paranormal investigation with a fair amount of activity and we are extremely grateful to Lee for giving us this opportunity. The Angel Inn itself is a beautiful venue and the Portals To Beyond team would like to give their sincere thanks to Lee March and all of the staff for their warm welcome and hospitality throughout the evening.
